"I simply remember my favorite things..."

(begin disclaimer)
I begin this post with the words of Seinfeld's George Costanza...

"I say this with an unblemished record of staunch heterosexuality,'...

(GULP and deep breath)

...I used Julie Andrews and the Sound of Music as some inspiration for this post.
(end disclaimer)

My 'cure' or remedy for some of the heaviness of late is to try and focus on things that I'm thankful for, things God has blessed me with, and things that make me smile. I don't have such a 'staunch record' of being thankful, but maybe that's part of the lessons of this season .

Enjoy...

My Favorite Things by Jim Horning

Nieces in duck hats in Skype camera flashes,

Mudflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes,

Silver white winters that melt into spring,

these are a few of a my favorite things...

Late summer sunsets and ministry cruises,

Blackbird fanatics that look like nephews-es,

Cute little ladies that pull your heart strings,

these are a few of my favorite things.

When my life bites,
and is annoying,
When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember
my favorite things,
and then I don't feeel so bad!

Rich Mullins once said that when you're feeling sad or depressed, you need to go for a walk and be reminded about how big the world is, much bigger than your life/problems.

I also love this song...

and while I didn't put these into my song, here are some more favorites...

Thank you, Lord.

heard Gracia Burnam singing "Gratitude" by Nichole Nordeman. That is a song about being thankful. Wow! Enjoyed your rendition of My Favorite Things!

Nice quote from George, excellent manipulation of lyrics and great reminder of God's presence and faithfulness despite our surroundings.
